The kitchen and sitting room is all on one level, with carpeted stairs leading down to the two bedrooms and bathroom. The ground floor is fully tiled with two steps up to the bathroom. The bathroom is equipped with oversize bath, w.c., basin and one step up through sliding doors into the separate shower.
There is no access to the ground floor from outside. There is a paved area within the garden, with two steps up to the lawn. To the side of the cottage there is a small paved courtyard with garden seats and a table, and a flight of stone steps leading up to the first floor side door (restricted height). Parking is immediately adjacent to the cottage.
Ivy Cottage
Ivy cottage is accessed from the courtyard where parking is available opposite the cottage. There is a step over the threshold into the hallway. The ground floor rooms are on one level with tiled floors and scatter rugs. All doorways are at least 2'9" wide. Downstairs, the bathroom has an over-bath shower, basin and wc. The carpeted stairs lead off from the sitting room and have one turn a few steps up. Upstairs the rooms are all on one level and have pine floors and scatter rugs. The upstairs bathroom has restricted height, as do the bedrooms in places under the eaves. 1 wide step leads down from the rear door into the enclosed garden which has a paved area and lawn.
Berry Cottage
Berry Cottage has been designed with a wheelchair user in mind. Parking is immediately outside the front door which has level access into the hall. All ground floor rooms are on the same level and are tiled throughout with occasional rugs. The ground floor bathroom is equipped with level access "wet room" shower and grab rails beside the bath, low height basin and wc. Next to the bathroom is the ground floor bedroom which has twin zip and link beds which can be joined together to form one 6' bed.
The Hall leads into the galley kitchen which opens through to the sitting room/dining room. The enclosed rear garden is accessed via a 3' French door from the sitting room onto a ramp down to the paved area and lawn.
Carpeted stairs from the sitting room (with one turn a few steps up) lead to three bedrooms and another bathroom, which although under the eaves have full height in almost all areas. Upstairs the floors are pine boards with scatter rugs in the bedrooms and tiles on the bathroom floor.
Outside
Ivy and Berry Cottages have an interconnecting garden gate which can be opened if unlocked on both sides.
The gravelled driveway has a 8% gradient, and leads into the courtyard also gravelled, where parking is available. There is a log store for the users of Ivy and Berry close to the cottages, over a slight incline. The courtyard is on a slight slope. Each cottage has its own external lights in the gardens and at the front of the cottages and there are further lights on sensors ensuring that the driveway and courtyard are lit at night.
Gardens/Communal areas
The ground slopes upwards towards the enclosed play area and Barn Ingli, and also through the pergola to the garden, summer house, tennis court and games area. Electric wheelchair users would be able to access all of these areas although non-powered wheelchairs might find this difficult. Paths around the gardens are grassed. Benches are provided in various parts of the garden.
We have described the access to, and within the property and cottages, in as much detail as reasonable conciseness allows. If you need any further details or have any specific requirements, please enquire and we will be pleased to answer any questions.

EASY-ACCESS
ROUTES in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park* Pembrokeshire has some of the most varied and spectacular scenery in Wales, from rugged cliffs and sandy beaches to wooded valleys and tranquil estuaries. The landscape is scattered with reminders of the area’s fascinating past. There are prehistoric forts and Celtic crosses, medieval castles and Victorian defences, ancient churches and old industrial workings. A booklet describes more than 20 easy-access routes, ranging in length from 600 metres (660 yards) to almost 5 km (3 miles), which will help people with limited mobility to enjoy this diverse heritage to the full. Please contact us for a copy. The routes vary in difficulty. Some are specially adapted for wheelchairs, others are footpaths or bridleways where wheelchair-users will need the help of an able-bodied companion. Each route description includes information about distance, gradients, surfaces and parking, and is illustrated by a detailed map. The start of each walk should be easy to find using this booklet and a good road map, but if you prefer to consult an Ordnance Survey map, grid references are included. At the end of the booklet you’ll also find information about accessible beaches and viewpoints. For information about other facilities around the county, A Guide for People with Disabilities in Pembrokeshire, compiled by the Pembrokeshire Access Group and published by Pembrokeshire County Council, is available from information centres and bookshops. * This section is taken from the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority publication of the same title. © Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority 1999 |
